Mike Childs
Head of Science, Policy & Research Friends of the Earth
Mike Childs has worked at Friends of the Earth for over three decades, campaigning on issues ranging from factory pollution, to recycling, to home insulation. His current role is Head of Science, Policy & Research which entails ensuring that Friends of the Earth has a good evidence base for it’s work. He leads a small team of researchers, policy experts and data analysts. The team recently mapped where onshore wind and solar farms could be located in England based on a number of exclusions (for example, avoiding key habitats) in an attempt to support and encourage local authorities to be more proactive in identifying sites for rapid development.
