Hassen Bali is a seasoned professional in the renewable energy and energy storage sectors, with extensive experience in project finance and development. He is the co-founder of ion Ventures, an international energy transition specialist focused on clean energy and flexibility technology solutions aimed at supporting the integration of renewables into the grid. Since 2018, Hassen has led ion Ventures in advancing renewable generation and electrification schemes across the UK, Europe and South and Southeast Asia.
Prior to co-founding ion Ventures, Hassen held key positions within the renewable and clean technology space. This included Lightsource Renewable Energy, where he managed the acquisition and development of energy storage and solar assets, and Cadence RB Limited, where he supported the firm in accessing investment and commercial opportunities within the clean technology and resource efficiency sectors across various international markets. His energy related career began with roles at Ventura Climate Capital and Markit, focusing on environmental markets and carbon finance.
Hassen is a Fellow of the Energy Institute and a quoted contributor to World Energy Council Innovation Insights briefs focused on Energy Storage and Energy Infrastructure, also contributing to the 2019 World Energy Scenarios, with a long-term view out to 2040. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng), Mining Engineering from the University of Nottingham.
