
Caroline Woodley
Elected in November 2023, Caroline Woodley is Hackney’s first directly elected female Mayor. Her key priorities for Hackney include tackling the housing crisis, poverty, and climate change.
Mayor Woodley is committed to environmental issues, her aim is a fairer and greener Hackney. She believes that collaboration across Hackney’s communities and dedicated partners is pivotal for driving forward her ambition for Hackney to become a climate leader.
Hackney is already leading the way on this agenda, having proudly delivered 52 school streets, over 1000 cycle hangars, an estimated 77% carbon emission reduction in its fleet. The Council launched the Green Skills Hub and began installing solar panels on 28 estates, offering residents up to a 15% energy reduction. Mayor Woodley is also personally committed to pursuing Hackney’s goal of 30% tree cover by 2030, expanding nature conservation sites, and improving biodiversity.
