John Davies

John Davies CEng is a Chartered Engineer and founder of the award-winning solar engineering firm 2DegreesKelvin, the UK’s go-to consultancy for utility-scale solar inspections, testing, and technical services. With over two decades of experience in power generation—including roles from engineering manager to the UK’s youngest station manager at age 28—John transitioned to solar in 2013, building a 250MW O&M business before launching 2DegreesKelvin in 2019.

Under his leadership, the company delivers lifecycle services across technical consultancy, construction management, advanced testing, and asset life extension, supporting developers, IPPs, EPCs, and investors. John is also the founder of Mission70, a freelance resource platform, and the Academy of Solar Excellence, addressing the sector’s critical skills gap with cutting-edge training solutions.

He is Vice-Chair of Solar Energy UK’s Large-Scale Technical Working Group and an Amazon #1 bestselling author of Solar Boom, a widely praised guide to utility-scale solar. A regular industry speaker and contributor to the UK Government’s Solar Taskforce Skills Sub-group, John is known for championing quality, innovation, and knowledge-sharing across the sector.
